GEFTA Annual Conference 2026

1 and 2 October 2026 at the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig, Germany

Annual conference of the GEFTA with scientific programme and general assembly

The motto of the conference is

Thermal analysis and safety of energy storage systems

Energy storage and energy storage systems have become increasingly important in the course of the energy transition and the increasingly volatile supply of wind energy, photovoltaics, natural gas, hydrogen, etc. in order to stabilise the power grid as instantaneous storage or to transfer excess energy from summer to winter as seasonal storage. These energy storage systems often utilise innovative technologies whose thermal properties must be known in order to be operated safely and efficiently.

This GEFTA conference is therefore intended to illustrate the potential of thermal analysis methods for determining the thermal properties of active materials, other construction materials and complete systems. Special focus will be placed on electrochemical energy storage devices (batteries). We invite you to explain this topic with a contribution from your research activities.

Contributions from the established fields of application of thermal analysis are also welcome.

GEFTA also warmly welcomes the participation of relevant equipment manufacturers and offers these companies the opportunity to present their work in the form of a scientific presentation or poster.

The conference is jointly organised by the German Society for Thermal Analysis (GEFTA), the Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) and the German National Metrology Institute (PTB). The conference is supported by Helmholtz-Fonds e.V.

The conference language is either German or English.
